Photoshop Shoot

As you can tell my photoshop skills arent the best but i feel i really learnt alot more and have really pushed my basic skills, i decided to style this shoot with a gyspy theme, i felt it reflected kate moss' chilled boho style and character, i think the last image is the most succesful. This was the longest project we had in fabric styling and the one that i really can look back and compare to the first one we did back in august (see earlier in blog) and look how much i have improved.

Fabric Styling

Our Fabric Styling Brief is to pick a celebrity to style, from clothes to acessories to hair and make-up then choose a location for them to have the photo shoot in. i have chosen to do Kate Moss i wanted to do someone British who pulled off that English look, she is slightly ragged but stylish in her own way. i like the idea of doing a shoot which is slightly grungier and not very girlie or conventional

Swimwear

This is my first piece for my swimwear class, we got caught out taking this class because we were already weeks in before we realised that all the other students were 6 semesters in but i love this class and have really enjoyed it, this is my costume (we have to have 1 costume and one bikini and a cover-up) i am adding straps around the neck with another gold hoop to fasten it together at the back.

This is the flower that i had to do for my embroidery class took absaloutely ages but i strangely enjoyed it rather theraputic i think this will be the one class that has taught me the most new skills which i am likely to encorporate when i get home.

Photoshop & Illustraion Class

In this class we have to do a women's wear project we have to make a print and manipulate it into fashion flats this is my inspiration board i have found all these images from runway shows and magazines and taken the background image last summer in Bali. We have to write a brief caption on who are our target market was and choose a colour theme that we will follow when we begin to make our prints. I have really enjoyed learning how to make these boards and understanding photo shop better, the next two boards are documenting how i made my print and the different colourways i have put it into and the final board is the fashion flats and a change of season.

Kate Moss Inspiration Project

This project was for fabric styling we had to pick an inspiration and make a collection of outfits for various occasions and then photoshop them into a background which we felt reflected the character of our inspiration. I tried to do a board with her assecoris and more every day items, then a chic evening wear not smart but more casual and achievable, then i decided to show the contrast of her in the designers clothing and how although she brings style and elegance into the designers clothing her character and persona show through and bring her on style to every shoot. The last board had to be a contrasting image so i did beach wear.

Experiments Continued...

I really enjoyed experimenting with exposures and the postition of the body, i think the mask has worked really well, doing a nude shoot whne people know one an other so i liked the idea of concealing an identity.

Interiors

These last two were how i would style the inside of Kate Moss house i went for a quaint unique style with low lighting and unusual shapes and designs, i used warm colours and crossed a morrocan theme with an english country side, it hink as a whole this works really well and creates a good concept.

Inspiration Boards

3 inspiration boards, exotic, romantic and sophisticated, we had to carefully select the images then fabric swatch accordingly then make paint chips to tie the boards together. The Americans have a completely different take on these inspiration boards and when i get home i don't think i will be able to do one the same again, our teacher is extremely picky and every image and swatch has to be exactly right. The type of fabric has to incorporate the mood the weight and thickness of the fabric has to be exactly what would be used in those situations not just a perfect colour match. Its a really interesting learning about colour Analysis and the mood effects but what shades you use.

Movement

I had a project where i had to capture movement without the figure being blured,i thought the best way to capture this would to use a piece of fabric so that it would enhance her movements.

Sleeves For Pattern Cutting

In my pattern cutting class we have to make a creative sleeve of our own along with a puffed top and bottom sleeve, pattern cutting is my most challenging class i take but the one i enjoy the most, working from a list of instructions to make a flat design and the be able to see it in 3D and then make it has been really difficult for me. This week i have researched Tudor sleeves and elaborate over the top puffed sleeve designs for ispiration, i have created a sleeve that is exaggerated at the top and then goes into a ruffled arm and then an oversized cuff.

Dark Room Pictures.

Today in photography we set up idividual dark room booths and played with the f-stop and bulb settings (i like to take a photo but to finially understand the buttons on my camera has completely changed how i now look at a picture) we experimented with tinted lights and movement-loved it!

Photography Brief

In photography we had to over describe our character and let out partner represent what we thought we were like, i struggled to summarise myself in one description that could be portrayed on photo and went for the summary of being slightly banana's i wanted his expression to portray that he new he wasn't completely there but so what....

Hole in the Blind

We have been given a brief were we have to pick a room and follow the light, this is the most interesting light its a little hole in the blind that drives me mad but was my best friend for the week.
